Both the state and the federal governments have come up with programs to encourage offshore wind development in New Jersey waters, with the state creating economic incentives that it hopes will create a new manufacturing base here in the Garden State. On February 17, NJ Spotlight brought together state officials with offshore wind developers to discuss the state of the industry here in New Jersey, the proposed incentives and regulations, as well as opportunities for potential new businesses.
Regulators stress that regardless of size and scope, offshore wind projects must demonstrate a net economic benefit to customers if they are going to get the green light.
