With restrictions lifted, Jersey Shore kicks off summer season

But rainy forecast keeps crowds down

Fewer people apparently flocked to the Shore at the start of this Memorial Day weekend to kick off the first post-pandemic summer season. But a rainy, cold forecast caused multiple postponements, including outdoor concerts at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park.

Many strolling the Asbury Park boardwalk were thrilled to feel the brisk ocean breeze on their uncovered faces. And with New Jersey’s indoor mask and social distancing restrictions completely gone as of Friday, Shore businesses hoped to start recouping last year’s losses.
