Why the pressure is on Ciattarelli, not Murphy

Pollster says voters give the governor good marks on his handling of the pandemic, their top issue

With less than three months to go until New Jersey’s election for governor, a  Monmouth University Poll this week put Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy ahead of his Republican rival Jack Ciattarelli by double digits among registered voters. What will it take for that to change?

“The top issue for New Jersey voters right now is the pandemic,” said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute. “And the governor’s getting good marks on that, and it’s pretty hard to knock him off of that.”
