From a 180-foot David Bowie, to messages about social justice, to a giant wave on Grove Street, Jersey City’s murals have become a colorful part of the revitalization of the city.
Now, the city has created a website and app to help people learn about the murals. The interactive site includes a map that highlights each mural and the artist behind it. About 80 percent of Jersey City’s murals are on it, with the rest to be added by the end of the summer.
The app was created by a Jersey City company CANVS and cost $15,000.
The mural program began in Jersey City six years ago as a way combat graffiti. There are now nearly 140 murals featured on the website.
