Whether or not the federal government properly handled the coronavirus response might be the subject of an independent panel’s investigation. U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez introduced legislation Wednesday forming a nonpartisan COVID-19 commission to be modeled after the Sept. 11 commission that investigated the terror attacks. This would be the first bipartisan, bicameral proposal looking at what went wrong and right during the outbreak. Leading sponsor Sen.
