Vaccine passports could lead to discrimination, GOP lawmaker says

There’s no formal proposal to require a COVID-19 vaccine passport in New Jersey, but one Republican lawmaker is already seeking a ban on its use. Sen. Jim Holzapfel (R-Ocean) introduced a bill Monday that would block any public or private entity from asking for someone’s vaccination status.

Public health experts have discussed whether proof of vaccination should be shown to gain entry to certain venues. The senator and some of his Republican colleagues say that could lead to discrimination at work or in public settings based on an individual’s vaccination status.
