Thousands unemployed in NJ still waiting for benefit checks

Tens of thousands of New Jersey residents are still stuck in unemployment-claim limbo. The weeks are ticking by while their bank accounts drain. This time, they’re waiting for the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development to send out checks from the 11-week federal benefit extension.

The timing of the stimulus bill threw a wrench in the system, leaving desperate residents with no money and no answers. Correspondent Leah Mishkin reports.
