Some NJ towns OK’d marijuana businesses, others said no. The rest have days to decide

The rules that regulate the market are due to be released Thursday

The rules and regulations for the state’s recreational marijuana industry are expected to be released Thursday, starting a countdown to legal recreational sales set to begin within six months. The rules will arrive two days before another deadline — when towns must decide whether to allow, restrict or outright ban cannabis shops and other related businesses from operating within their borders.

“There are 565 towns in New Jersey and all of them have to decide by this Saturday whether they want in on the pot industry or not,” said Bill Caruso, a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce.
