Menendez rallies support for a COVID-19 response investigation

Investigation will help the U.S. prepare for the next pandemic

U.S. Sen Bob Menendez is trying to gain support for the creation of a nonpartisan commission to investigate the United States’ response to COVID-19. It would be structured like the 9/11 Commission, based on legislation he co-sponsored with Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine. At University Hospital in Newark Monday, Menendez said such a commission could help to prepare for the next pandemic, adding that many people deserve answers.

“This commission is not for Republicans, it’s not for Democrats. It’s for the American people,” said Menendez.
