Sen. Chris Brown not seeking reelection in 2nd District

Republican state Sen. Chris Brown announced he will be retiring. Brown, who represents Atlantic County in the 2nd legislative district, has served in the Legislature since 2011, first as an Assemblyman and now as a senator.

So far, former Atlantic City Republican mayor Don Guardian is vying for the seat and the district’s Democratic Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo is also expected to run.

Brown’s retirement announcement follows similar announcements by Republican Sens. Tom Kean and Kip Bateman along with Democratic Sen. Loretta Weinberg.
