Republican Sen. Chris Brown joins Murphy administration, will advise on Atlantic City

Brown had already announced he would not be running for reelection

Republican state Sen. Chris Brown, is joining the Murphy administration. Brown (R-Atlantic) is retiring from the Legislature earlier than planned to take a role in the state Department of Community Affairs — serving as a senior adviser on issues related to Atlantic City. He will be overseeing the ongoing state takeover that began in 2016 under then Gov. Chris Christie and will continue for another four years under a new law signed last month by Gov. Phil Murphy.

Brown represented Atlantic City as part of his legislative district for nearly a decade. In a statement, Murphy said he will be an asset to the administration, improving the quality of life for residents of Atlantic City.
