Pfizer says COVID-19 vaccine is safe and 100% effective in kids 12 to 15

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine was 100% effective in a study of 12- to 15-year-olds, the companies reported Wednesday. The vaccine was well tolerated in the group and the immune response was stronger than among older participants in earlier trials.

Pfizer-BioNTech will be submitting the data to the Food and Drug Administration in coming weeks, seeking emergency use authorization for a younger population. We asked Montclair State University epidemiologist Stephanie Silvera what this could mean for putting an end to the pandemic.
