Olympic champions Athing Mu and Sydney McLaughlin celebrated in hometowns

A parade for Mu and a track renamed for McLaughlin

A parade was held in the state capital for track star Athing Mu, the Trenton native who won two gold medals at the Summer Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. Gov. Phil Murphy, Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora and State Police Col. Patrick Callahan joined city residents to congratulate Mu.

Two-time gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin returned to Dunellen this weekend as the local track at Columbia Park was renamed in her honor. McLaughlin set a world record for the 400-meter hurdles in Tokyo.
