The impact of COVID-19 on New Jersey’s schools is clearer Wednesday. The state launched a new tracking tool and reported 11 outbreaks linked to in-school transmission with 43 individual cases liked to those outbreaks. But the governor says overall school reopenings have gone “smoothly,” even as cases around the state continue to spike.
Wednesday, the governor reported 722 new infections, with 188 cases reported in Ocean County. Monmouth and Middlesex Counties follow, bringing the total reported COVID-19 infections to 205,275. Nine new deaths bring the total to 14,335, plus 1,787 probable COVID deaths. The rate of transmission is 1.15.
