At three full weeks into New Jersey’s milestone phase three of reopening government leaders have yet to see any coronavirus outbreaks stemming from gyms or indoor dining. Governor Murphy hinted his administration may move to increase capacity at those establishments if the lack of outbreaks remain.
The health department is reporting another 430 positive test results pushing the cumulative total to nearly 201,000, that’s with 7 new deaths and more than 16,000 total fatalities.
We know nursing homes account for a large number of those coronavirus-related deaths. Expanding testing at those facilities has been critical to the state’s mission of containing the virus but those facilities say conflicting guidelines from state and federal regulators are leaving critical testing materials on the table.
