The Murphy administration is giving the state’s school systems a vote of confidence. Monday he called their plans robust and working as expected to protect students from the coronavirus as they return to class. The endorsement comes even as at least half a dozen school districts changed their hybrid or in-person schedules due to confirmed cases of COVID-19 among students and staff. The administration says so far there are no known incidents of the virus being transmitted within a school.

The state health department is reporting another 346 new positive tests statewide. The cumulative total is 196,968. There are three new deaths and 16,034 confirmed and probable fatalities.
