New Jersey continues heading in the right direction of curbing the coronavirus outbreak. It appears the rest of the country is not. The U.S. reached more than 1,000 coronavirus-related deaths in a single day. The milestone hit as President Donald Trump admitted the outbreak will get worse across the nation before it gets better.
At home, state leaders reported another 390 new positive test results. It pushes the cumulative total to 177,645. That’s with 24 new deaths and 15,707 known and probable fatalities. The rate of transmission remains steady and below 1.0.
But Gov. Phil Murphy says the state may not be able to keep up the battle without some federal help. Wednesday he blasted U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell’s federal stimulus proposal. His plan is $2 billion dollars less than a bill passed by the House in May.
