It’s unclear whether the rise in coronavirus cases across the state is, in fact, part of the second wave health experts predicted. But state leaders are in the throes of tracking and fighting the spike in new positive tests.
The daily COVID-19 count has been hitting numbers not seen since June. Wednesday, the state Health Department repored 514 new cases, pushing the cumulative total to 209,850 with four new confirmed deaths and 16,152 total lives lost. Monmouth and Ocean Counties are the two main hotspots being watched.
Another part of the mitigation efforts includes an update to New Jersey’s coronavirus quarantine travel advisory list. New Mexico was added again this week, making 35 states and territories from which health leaders want travelers to quarantine for two weeks after arriving in the state.
