Gov. Phil Murphy confirmed it Thursday: the second wave of the coronavirus is here in New Jersey. The number of new cases has grown significantly in the last few weeks. It’s also evident in the number of new patients being treated for COVID-19 in the state’s hospitals.

The Health Department reported another 1,477 new positive COVID-19 tests, pushing the cumulative total to 234,547. With eight additional deaths, there have now been 16,332 total lives lost to the virus in New Jersey. More than a thousand coronavirus patients are in our hospitals across the state.
