New Jersey is now part of a growing surge in coronavirus cases along the Northeast and across the country. For that reason, Governor Murphy is urging residents to limit out-of-state travel unless it’s deemed necessary. The state also now meets the criteria for New York’s quarantine travel advisory list, but Governor Cuomo says there’s no practical way to make New Jersey or other border-state residents comply because the region is just too interconnected.
State health officials are concerned about the backslide reporting yet another day of more than 1,000 new positive tests, that’s the 3rd straight day this week. The statewide cumulative total is now more than 222,000 with 13 new deaths and more than 16,000 lives lost to this pandemic.
The new uptick is stirring unease. Private indoor gatherings are being held responsible for this second wave.
