For nearly one straight week the state has logged roughly a thousand new positive COVID-19 cases per day. Wednesday’s data is no different with 953 new confirmed tests. It pushes the cumulative total to 216,023. With nine new deaths there are now 16,191 probable and confirmed fatalities.
New Jersey is not alone with the spike in cases — travelers from three more states with high levels of community spread are being asked to quarantine for two weeks upon arriving. The addition of Ohio, Michigan and Virginia brings the coronavirus quarantine travel advisory list to a new high with a total of 38 states and territories.
Ironically, New Jersey’s weekly rolling average is dangerously close to meeting the requirements for being placed on our own travel advisory. The state is still beefing up contact tracing efforts.
