NJ Spotlight News: July 9, 2021

In the roughly 16 months since New Jersey’s coronavirus outbreak began the state went from being an early hotspot and home to the most COVID-19 related deaths per capita in the country to having among the highest vaccination rates in the U.S. with daily case counts at record lows. But getting to that point cost thousands of lives and drew criticism of the Murphy administration’s strict rules on businesses and gatherings.

Officials announced 358 new, positive cases and 3 new deaths. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 894,823 cases in the state and 26,496 confirmed and probable deaths.
