A major vaccination expansion is underway. On Thursday, another roughly 4 million NJ residents were added to the list of those eligible to receive for the first dose of Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccine. It includes all adults age 65 and over, as well as those 16- to 64-years-old with certain health conditions.
As of Thursday morning, 287,840 vaccinations had been administered, and 33,898 people have received both shots making them fully immunized.
The daily caseload of new infections doesn’t appear to be letting up as another 5,967 new positive PCR tests were reported Thursday. That means the state has a total of 549,840 confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak. Another 94 deaths brings the statewide confirmed and probable death count to 20,253. After three consecutive days of increases, hospitalizations declined slightly to 3,638.
