Call it a sign of good faith. Gov. Phil Murphy said the state could take more steps to open if hospitalizations continue dropping. Statewide the number of COVID-19 patients is now down for the 14th straight day. But given the threat of new variants, Murphy isn’t committing to hard dates or specific restrictions to be lifted.
Wednesday, Murphy extended the public health emergency for the 12th time since the pandemic began. That, as officials reported another 3,786 new positive COVID-19 cases and 92 deaths.
The administration says the state’s six vaccine megasites hit a new milestone with more than 13,000 doses given in a single day. Overall, 1,470,941 vaccinations have been administered in NJ, and 412,118 residents are now fully-vaccinated with their second shot.
