Phase 1 of the state’s COVID-19 inoculation plan is now moving to veteran’s homes, where the coronavirus spread like wildfire during the spring outbreak. The first vaccinations given under the Federal Pharmacy Program began Monday night for residents and staff at the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home. So far, 118 residents rolled up their sleeve to get the first dose. A spokesperson for the Paramus home says the majority of residents should complete both shots by Feb. 8. Vaccinations are scheduled to begin at the Menlo Park and Vineland Veteran’s homes next week.

Tuesday, health leaders reported an additional 127 deaths due to the coronavirus. That puts the total number of fatalities for the month higher than any other since May. With 3,675 new positive cases, the state’s cumulative total is now 467,622. In total, 18,777 lives have been lost to the virus.
