With state legislators wrapping up work next week ahead of a summer break, the focus will turn to their reelection campaigns; all 120 seats will be on the ballot this fall, in addition to the governor’s office. With Democrats controlling the Legislature and the governor’s seat, what’s the GOP’s strategy to try to change that?
On appealing to the Trump wing of the Republican Party, Hugin said, “When you look at Jack’s [Ciattarelli] policies for New Jersey, he believes in liberty, he believes in economic liberty, he believes in all the kinds of freedoms. And the issue that those voters were concerned about, Jack’s going to demonstrate that and the message is going to resonate with them. Yes, it was a tough campaign in the primary, but Jack’s ready. […] Like any political party there’s lots of people who have different views. But the primary things that bind us, that bring us together, far, far outweigh the things that divide us.”
