Roadblocks to legalized marijuana remain. Lawmakers work to get around them

As AG issues new guidelines for prosecutors, lawmakers try to solve issues with marijuana legislation

As the state moves toward legalizing recreational cannabis, New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal Wednesday issued new guidance to prosecutors on how to handle low-level marijuana possession. He instructed them to hold off on prosecuting cases until Jan. 25. Grewal stating, “It simply does not make sense or serve justice to proceed with prosecutions on charges that may be foreclosed soon through legislative action.”
