Murphy wants to extend deadline for FEMA jobless payments

An estimated 842,000 NJ residents are still looking to find work

There’s a new round of federal unemployment assistance being disbursed from the state Department of Labor. A total of $1,800 for each eligible person to cover the period of Aug. 1 through Sept. 5. The new payments have been touted by state leaders as of late, but when NJ Spotlight News asked viewers and readers how they were faring with the system, we got plenty of feedback — confusion, frustration, anger. There were dozens of responses from residents who say they met the requirements and never got the money. Senior Correspondent Brenda Flanagan reports.
