Murphy rejects Ciattarelli’s claim on storm preparedness

GOP's Jack Ciattarelli calls for legislative hearings into Gov. Murphy’s decision-making in Tropical Storm Ida

Flood victims from Tropical Storm Ida are on high alert this week with the threat of more thunderstorms and significant rainfall. The death toll stands at 30 for victims during the flooding associated with the storm. One person from Passaic County remains missing. According to Gov. Phil Murphy’s office, Hunterdon and Somerset counties reported the most fatalities with six deaths in each.

As homeowners and businesses across the state apply for disaster relief through insurance companies and the federal government, Republican gubernatorial nominee Jack Ciattarelli’s camp is calling for legislative hearings into the Murphy administration’s handling of the storm.

Murphy says he won’t get into the politics of Ciattarelli’s call for hearings but rejected the suggestion that people didn’t know what was coming in plenty of time.
