Most interest in 2nd District primary election is in GOP battle

New Jersey's 2nd District is a rare split district

New Jersey’s 2nd legislative district is one of those rare split districts. The Senate representative is a Republican — currently Chris Brown, who is retiring — while the Assembly representatives are both Democrats. The Democrats have put up incumbent Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo, leaving most of the interest for the Republican primary.

Former Assemblyman Vince Polistina is back on the ballot after a 10-year layoff, and Seth Grossman, who gave Jeff Van Drew a run for his money in the 2018 congressional race, despite some controversies regarding his comments on race and other issues.
