State leaders said Thursday that they expected the number of cases to surge, and they have. At least 742 total positive COVID-19 cases, including nine deaths. That’s 318 new cases overnight. The New Jersey Department of Health is now reporting that the outbreak has reached at least 19 out of 21 counties, and added it will soon reach every corner of the state.
To help New Jersey stem the tide, Gov. Phil Murphy is extending social distancing restrictions to “personal care businesses.” As of 8 p.m. Thursday, barber shops, salons, spas and social clubs are also being ordered to close.
