Longer waits for COVID-19 tests as cases spike in second wave

Across New Jersey, the demand for COVID-19 tests is soaring

The numbers make it seem as if history is repeating itself: spiking COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations, and fatalities; and now, the return of long lines at testing locations just as with the first wave of the pandemic in the spring.

In November, New Jersey is averaging 45,000 COVID-19 tests a day, Gov. Phil Murphy says. But there could be a wait time of a day or more for an appointment. Senior Correspondent Brenda Flanagan reports on COVID-19 testing in the second wave, even with many more test kits available.

You can find an open COVID-19 test site on the state’s website.
