The race to represent the 2nd Congressional District is considered one of the most competitive in the country

U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew and challenger Amy Kennedy, the major party candidates in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District, are set to discuss the issues during a debate co-sponsored by NJTV and the William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy at Stockton University on Thursday, Oct. 8.

Kennedy, a Democrat, is trying to unseat Van Drew, the Republican incumbent, in this South Jersey race that has drawn national attention because of Van Drew’s high-profile switch from longtime Democrat to the GOP after he was one of only a handful of Democrats to oppose the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

Monmouth University Poll released Monday said Kennedy leads Van Drew.
