Gov. Phil Murphy signed the LGBTQI+ Senior Bill of Rights legislation on Wednesday. The LGBTQ population has been hard-hit by the mental, emotional, and economic toll of the coronavirus pandemic, but that true impact remains unknown. Dr. Perry Halkitis, dean of the School of Public Health at Rutgers University, said that’s because the state Department of Health does not distinguish sexual orientation and gender identity when reporting COVID-19 cases.
