ICE detainees at Bergen County Jail in second week of hunger strike

Briana Vannozzi, Anchor | November 30, 2020 | Immigration

For the second time this month, a group of immigrant detainees at the Bergen County Jail are participating in a hunger strike to protest the conditions inside the facility and demanding to be released while they await the outcome of their deportation cases. The detainees allege poor health and safety standards made worse by the rising surge of COVID-19 cases.

WNYC reporter Matt Katz covers immigration and refugees and has been following developments at the jail. He joins Anchor Briana Vannozzi with the latest.
