Hundreds gather for pro-Palestinian rally in Paterson

In Paterson, hundreds of people joined a pro-Palestinian rally on Tuesday night to call for an end to forced evictions of Palestinians in Jerusalem. A surge of deadly violence in the Middle East has followed rising tensions sparked last month by clashes with police at a Jerusalem mosque during Ramadan. The crisis escalated into a military conflict, with Israel carrying out hundreds of airstrikes in the Gaza strip and reports of at least 1,000 rockets fired by Palestinian militants.

It is the latest battle in a decades-long conflict over each side’s claim to the holy city of Jerusalem. Dozens of Palestinians, including children, have been killed and dozens more wounded. At least six Israelis have been killed.
