Hoboken pastor Phil Rizzo announces bid for governorship

Add another name to the list of Republicans challenging Gov. Phil Murphy for the governorship. Phil Rizzo, the pastor of a Hoboken church has announced his bid for the nomination.

According to his biography on the City Baptist Church website, Rizzo is a Morris County native and spent most of his career working with his family in real estate management and development. He’s a frequent Murphy critic — and, according to his social media accounts, a staunch advocate of former President Donald Trump. His campaign is focusing on “reclaiming the prosperity of New Jersey.” Rizzo will compete with former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli and businessman Hirsh Singh for the GOP nomination.
