High school students demand more services, less policing

Students urge more funding for counselors, other supports

Less policing in schools and more counseling: That was the demand from high school students marching in Essex County Wednesday as they campaigned for more investment in mental health help and equity in education as a means to reduce the school-to-prison pipeline.

Chasing the Dream: Poverty and Opportunity in America is a multiplatform public media initiative that provides a deeper understanding of the impact of poverty on American society.
