Helping neighbors after the storm

‘In this community they’re very friendly, they’re very close, they’re together and they care a lot’

Communities across New Jersey are coming together after the devastation caused to many neighborhoods by Tropical Storm Ida. In Manville, the Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW is distributing nonperishable food as well as cleaning kits to residents in need.

“This is nothing new to Manville. Manville has flooded several times. But what really makes this flooding unique is that a lot of the home owners are new home owners. They’ve never experienced a flood. They have no idea what to do. So we’re just trying to make things a little bit easier,” said Mark Gregor, an auxiliary member at the Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW.
