Heat advisory is in effect through Wednesday night

Cities have opened cooling sites as a precaution during heat wave

Though not quite as intense as the heat dome baking the Northwest, an oppressive heat wave is slamming the area and a heat advisory is in effect through Wednesday night. The searing temperatures have led cities up and down the state to open cooling sites.

Health experts urge patients to stay cool and to wear breathable clothing to avoid heat-related illnesses especially.

This summer is projected to be hotter than last year. And climatologists worry New Jersey could begin seeing some of the same weather patterns here as out West.

Lead funding for Peril and Promise is provided by Dr. P. Roy Vagelos and Diana T. Vagelos. Major support is provided by Marc Haas Foundation and Sue and Edgar Wachenheim, III.
