Hackensack Meridian will require employees to get COVID-19 vaccine

Limited exemptions may be granted for medical conditions or religious beliefs

Hackensack Meridian Health is joining RWJ Barnabas Health in requiring all workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19. According to a statement from Dr. Daniel Varga, the chief physician executive at Hackensack Meridian, the hospital system sees mandatory vaccination as the best way to achieve herd immunity and protect communities from the spread of deadly variants.

More than 70% of staff are currently vaccinated and the rest have until Nov. 15 to get their second vaccine dose or face termination. A spokesperson for the hospital system said limited exemptions may be granted for those with a qualifying medical condition or because of religious belief.
