Ciattarelli’s won party backing in every NJ county. Experts say that could be critical in a low-turnout election

“This is all about beating Phil Murphy,” according to GOP gubernatorial candidate, and presumed front-runner, Jack Ciattarelli. But Tuesday’s election is also about who continues to support former President Donald Trump. While Murphy faces no real primary challenge, the sometimes-nasty race to contest him showcases a Republican party divided by a president who’s longer in office, but who still wields outsize influence.
