Free tutoring for some Newark students

Pilot program is focused on closing the learning gap

Some students in Newark are getting extra help to succeed in school. The Newark Unites Tutoring Center will provide free tutoring sessions to kids in the 9th and 10th grades. It’s a joint effort between Metropolitan Baptist Church, Great Oaks Legacy Charter School and the New Jersey Children’s Foundation.

Sessions will take place several days a week at the church. Organizers will evaluate whether to expand the effort when the pilot program ends in December.
