The rapid spread of COVID-19 inside the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix has state and federal lawmakers stepping in. They’re calling on the federal Bureau of Prisons to stop inmate transfers until a better testing strategy is in place and there are no longer active cases of the disease. The Fort Dix facility has the highest number of positive coronavirus infections of any federal prison in the country. Family and friends of the incarcerated say the outbreak was preventable.
