Deadline extended for seniors to apply for property tax freeze

Changes in program funding creates confusion for senior citizens seeking property tax relief

Confusion about a popular and important program for New Jersey’s seniors has been causing stress for a lot of residents. Earlier this year, Gov. Phil Murphy put a hold on the property tax relief program that sends a refund check to senior citizens for payments they’ve already made. That plan, known as Senior Freeze, was reactivated with the new budget and given a new extended deadline to apply, now Dec. 31.
