COVID-19 crisis helplines for NJ’s frontline workers

DHS Assistant Commissioner Valerie Mielke says even heroes need help sometimes

From the very start of the pandemic, frontline workers have risked far more than just exposure to the coronavirus. As witnesses to tragedy and trauma, many of those workers have had little letup in the emotional and mental toll.

The state’s Department of Human Services (DHS) has partnered with Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare Department to launch help hotlines for frontline workers. DHS Assistant Commissioner Valerie Mielke spoke about the program with Anchor Briana Vannozzi.
