Ciattarelli criticizes Murphy’s Ida response, calls for legislative hearings

The Republican candidate for governor accuses Murphy of declaring a state of emergency too late

After laying low in the days immediately following Tropical Storm Ida, Republican gubernatorial nominee Jack Ciattarelli’s campaign is criticizing the Murphy administration’s storm response and calling on the Legislature to hold hearings into Gov. Phil Murphy’s handling of the crisis.

The Ciattarelli campaign is criticizing Murphy’s timing of a state of emergency declaration, which was made hours after the storm had caused devastation in many towns. Murphy defended his administration’s storm warnings but admitted there were too many cars on the roads when torrential rains hit.
