Camden barbers talk importance of COVID-19 vaccine with customers

‘I let them know that I am fully vaccinated but it’s up to you to make that choice’

Some barbers in Camden are being recognized as community ambassadors in the effort to get more people vaccinated against COVID-19. It’s part of a new program led by Rutgers University-Camden and the Center for Child Services, sponsored by NJ Health Initiatives. The idea is to facilitate people learning about the importance of vaccines from the people they trust.

“I’m gonna be honest. I let them know that I am fully vaccinated but it’s up to you to make that choice, and you got to judge for yourself,” said Javan Rankines, a barber at Essential Blends Hair Studio. “If you feel as though it’s a need for you to get it then I definitely encourage you to get it.”
