Bribes for COVID-19 shots? Gov. Murphy says, ‘Everything’s on the table’

State has its work cut out to reach goal of vaccinating 70% of eligible adults by July

Bribes for COVID-19 shots in New Jersey? Gov. Phil Murphy Monday said, “Are we willing to just basically bribe people to get vaccinated? Everything’s on the table.” The governor’s comments came as New Jersey enters its last massive push to vaccinate 4.7 million people by July — and that will take hundreds of thousands of doses per week.

Other cities and states are offering everything from baseball game tickets to $100 savings bonds; in New Jersey, beers have been offered. Some health experts worry that paying people cash to get vaccinated could make COVID-19 vaccine skeptics even more distrustful.
