As COVID-19 keeps Newark schools remote, will kids fall behind?

Newark’s positivity rate is double the state’s and falls within the CDC’s ‘moderate risk’ category for school transmission

Some 37,000 Newark schoolchildren will continue logging in for every lesson until Jan. 25, as rising COVID-19 cases persuaded the district to again delay in-person classes. But all-virtual learning could be taking a toll and kids with poor internet environments risk falling further behind. New Jersey is now testing to see how badly the digital divide is impacted learning. Senior Correspondent Brenda Flanagan reports.
